The car....
Here is a glimps at my yesterday.... actually we will start from Tuesday morning.
We got back from Disney, poor old girl hadn't been driven all week. I cranked her up, backed down the drive way, go to turn out and discover I have no power steering! Awesome!
So, I make it to work with every muscle in my upper body. At lunch, I decide I should run a few errands. Crank her up, try to pull out, nothing. No turning at this point. I ask one of my fix it ladies at the center to come look at her. The steering wheel fluid is empty. Not good.
So I run up, in Jen's car, to the mechanic, get a bottle of fluid, fill her up, and tada!! Steering wheel moves. That's enough excitement for one day.
Tuesday morning- the poor girl had lost all her fluid! I filled her back up again and drove her to the doctor (aka mechanic). Not good. A little after 12 I get a call. It's bad, real bad. She needs a new rack and pinion. Only the most expensive thing to break in your steering column. $600!!! She's only worth $2000. So the phone calls start.... Mike's vote= NO, Dad's vote= NO, Mom's vote= based on the guys, NO. So we quickly discover Mike needs to fly up to get the new car in Cleveland.
I call the mechanic back and tell him thanks, but NO. Super nice shop at 5 points if you need a mechanic. And of coarse, my stories wouldn't be complete without a little senior action. One of my oh- so present ladies steps in my office and tells me she called her mechanic and he can fix it for $450. We're getting better. The second set of calls continue. Mike= NO, Dad= NO, Mom= let me call dad again, Mom calls back= YES! (Mom and Dad are included in this process because half the sale goes to them)
So the next few minutes, I called the mechanic #2 back, said yes, booked a ticket for Mike, and posted a Mechanic Special for $1200 on Craigslist.
Not even 15 minutes later my phone blows up with calls. The first bidder can be here in 20 minutes. At this point, I haven't even picked the car up from mechanic #1. He comes, offers $700 and drives a Cadillac. What's wrong with that picture? I said No. Second bidder calls, asks if I have the title in hand because he's got the cash. Shows up, wants it. I get the title, he gives me cash and now I am at work at 6am with no car.
All in all, awesome day, stressful, but worth it! I get my new car this weekend!! Thanks for reading all this, if you still are. That all happened in about 3 hours! Talk about crazy!

Extreme Makeover....Baumann Edition
I am so excited that my parents are visiting for the whole week. This is the longest visit we have spent together and maybe most memorable.
Here are a few highlights of the visit so far (it's only Tuesday)
~One of the reasons they are here is so that my dad (former Fence Business Owner) can build us a fence. Having a fence will be so nice in more ways then one, but for Lucy (our bulldog) it will be heaven. (Maybe more for us then her). The posts are in and the bulk of the fence should be done today!
~Being a new home owner comes with a whole heep of new challenges, responsiblities and expenses. And the list of projects seems to go on and on. That's why it's so great having such handy parents! Even things I didn't think of are done, like putting an extra shelf in the pantry or hanging up curtains.
~ I love to decorate and create inviting spaces, but I hate projects that take lots of patience or time. Take painting for example, it takes a very steady hand and hours of taping, painting, re-painting and clean up. For a big room, atleast half a day. I love the finished product, but hate the grunt work. So while the boys are out digging and nailing, mama is inside PAINTING!! I love her input, we have very similar tastes. So when I get home today, my living room should be transformed! I can't wait to see it.
~ So I mentioned challenges and responsiblities that come with ownership. Now lets tackle the expenses. The mortage is paid, electric is on, but that doesn't leave room for much else. And the "want" list seems to go on and on. A need we are currently facing, is a new car. Mine is on it's last leg, served me well, but we knew in the next 6 months or so we would have to invest in something else. Well, future planning, it would be nice to get a vehicle that has a little growing room :) (No, I'm not pregnant), and good on gas. Looking at our budget, not much in that department was happening, so we were stuck. (Notice the word were). Last night at dinner, my parents gave me their car as an early Christmas present. An adorable PT Crusier. I have always loved that car, it is so cute and girly, and now it's mine.
I can't even begin to describe the love I have for my parents and the blessings I feel from them. They are both beautiful examples of love. I stand in awe of their faith, perserverance and strength. Mike and I feel overwhelmed by their gift. Our lives are transformed this week, in more ways then one!
