January Recap

Well, it's the last day in January, so I thought I would update you on my new goals for the year as well as some updates from the month.
My spiritual Goal was to write in a prayer journal to record the year. Did that twice, so I'm at 50% for that one.
Personally- I read the book "Enough" and it really enlightened me on what we really need and how we waste a lot of things and resources in the world. For my first book of the year, I give it an A.
Yoga didn't really happen, but I did get a three month membership to Rapid Fitness and have been running 3-4 times per week, so it kind of balances out. I still would like to work on my flexibility in February.
My work schedule has changed a lot and I am now almost full time, needless to say, my daily routine is still very spastic, but progress has been made in this area.
On the gluten free topic, I have the pleasure of helping create a gluten free pizza for the seniors and families at The Manor Village. Our executive chef, Guy, is from the Umstead hotel and we are working on testing many different recipes. This has been a great way to spread the knowledge I have about food allergies and I love getting to sample all the delicious, gluten free food!
I am also thrilled that we came in under budget with some hard work and recorded keeping in January. We were also able to save around $400, so all of this brings music to my ear. (Side note: my budgeting high was quickly squashed when we discovered someone had stolen Mike's GPS this morning. Not only is do I feel violated and angry, but this is essential for Mike's job, so we will be getting a new one as soon as we can shovel our way out of our driveway. ) I feel blessed in spite of that little upset, that we have the funds to replace the small item and that nothing/no one was hurt.
This month our budget will vary slightly due to Mike's mom coming for a visit and our Superbowl Party, but other then that, we are still keeping to the strict simplicity plan for a few more months.
This is getting a little lengthy, but I did get to experiment with one new recipe a week, Friday nights have been for Mike and I, and I hope to send out an update to our family today. Nothing like waiting til the last day of the month. Better late then never.
Hope that your first month of 2010 was all you hope it to be. I will try to blog more, so my conversations aren't so long! Thanks for reading!!
